The microscope is specially designed for Newton's Rings experiment. The bed is of Cast Iron and has machined guide ways on which the horizontal sliding carriage moves using a fine motion screw. Scale 17 cm long and graduated in cm, is attached on the base. The carriage has a vernier attached to measure the position of the microscope tube which reads to an accuracy of 0.01 cm. Microscope tube is mounted on a rotating arm which is rotatable and clamped at any position. A rack and pinion type focusing mechanism is attached to the microscope tube for focusing the objects. The microscope tube is fitted with acromatic objective and a 10X eyepiece with cross line graticule.
