Electrical Vibrator

Designed to show the effects of vibrations in a stretched cord, and  investigate the relationship between frequency, tension and density. The apparatus consists of a string and an oscillator to generate different  frequencies. A thin Steel rod, clamped at one end, passes through a small solenoid and a horse-shoe magnet, all mounted on a wooden base. The rod is flattened at the free end and a hole is drilled radially through it so that a string can tied through it. The solenoid is connected to A.C. mains through a suitable lamp resistance.  When A.C. current is passed through the solenoid, the polarity of the steel rod reverses with every change of A.C. current phase and hence causes the rod to vibrate. The length of the vibrator is adjusted until its natural frequency corresponds with that of the supply. Supplied with pulley, pan and cord. Requires 6 V, 50 Hz power source, Supplied to Electrical Vibrator via 4mm plug leads. To find the frequency of AC Mains using Electrical Vibrator in transverse   & longitudinal arrangements.
