This all-metal apparatus is designed for easy assembly and disassembly. It features a large metal trolley with detachable cylindrical weights, mounted on wheels that move smoothly along a track of two 150 cm steel rods. The rail rods are held in place by sturdy clamps, which fit into two vertical rods supported by cast iron feet. A steel vibrator is attached to one vertical rod, while a frictionless pulley is mounted on the other. The device is capable of testing the law under different conditions and is supplied with a cable, scale pan, brush, and ink.
Experimental Objective
This lesson will give insight into the physics concepts of force (especially tension), free-body diagrams, and Newton's second law of motion. The system studied involves objects moving with constant accelerations, and the lesson will review concepts related to motion with constant.
