This setup is designed to measure the local velocity at a specific point in the flow using a Pitot tube. It includes a standard copper or stainless-steel Pitot tube mounted below a Vernier scale. The position of the Pitot tube in a clear pipe section can be measured using the Vernier scale. A flow control valve is installed in the pipe to regulate the flow. The velocity head is measured with a U tube manometer that is included in the setup. The system is a self-contained water recirculation unit, featuring a sump tank, a centrifugal pump, and other essential components. Flow control and bypass valves are installed in the water pipe to allow experiments at various flow rates. The water flow rate is determined using a measuring tank and a stopwatch.

Experimental Objective

Measure the velocity at the center of a tube for different water flow rates and calibrate the Pitot tube.
Plot a graph showing the velocity across the pipe's cross section.
