The device consists of a channel in which both forced and natural convection are tested on the pin fin. The channel is linked to the blower's suction. Only forced convection is used to operate the blower so that it touches the pin fin. The window above the pin fin is maintained open to the atmosphere during natural convection. Along the length of the fin, there are five thermocouple tapings provided. Thus, the distribution of temperature along the length may be identified. It is possible to determine the co-efficient, efficiency, etc. of natural and forced heat transfer.
Experimental Objectives
To study the temperature distribution along the length of a pin fin under free and forced convection heat transfer
To determine the heat transfer coefficient experimentally & theoretically for free and forced convection.
