The system consists of a plate type heat exchanger, where hot water from a geyser serves as the hot fluid and a separate cold fluid flows through the system. The input and outlet connectors are arranged to form a counterflow heat exchanger, facilitating efficient heat transfer between the fluids. By measuring the relevant parameters during the flow of hot and cold fluids through the alternating plates, students can calculate the heat transfer rate, Log Mean Temperature Difference (LMTD), heat transfer coefficients, and the overall efficiency of the heat exchanger.

The Plate Heat exchanger is a 4plate brazed model that demonstrates the basic principles of heat transfer

To determine the overall heat transfer coefficient in a plate type heat exchanger at different hot fluid flow rate

 

Specifications

S.S. plate heat exchanger with 200 x 400mm size, multiple units.

3 kW geyser for hot water supply.

Calibrated water flow measuring vessel.

Thermometers to measure the inlet and outlet temperatures of fluids.

Flow control valves.

A technical manual is included with the unit.

 

Optional Accessories 

Rotameters included for accurate water flow measurement, replacing the measuring vessel.
Multichannel digital temperature indicator provided for precise temperature readings, replacing traditional thermometers.

 

Utilities required other than above supply 

Floor space of 1.5meter x 1meter

230V, 15A AC supply with earthing connection.


Water supply at approximately 10 liters/min with constant heat.
