The Setup is designed to study the performance of Gear Pump. The Setup consists of a Gear Pump having a pair of meshed gears coupled with electrical motor, supply tank, measuring tank & pipe fittings for closed loop oil circulation. Pressure and Vacuum Gauges are connected on delivery and suction side of pump for the purpose of measurement. The flow rate of water is measured using measuring tank and stop watch provided.

 

 

Experimental Objective

Determine the overall efficiency and pump efficiency of the gear pump.

Plot head versus discharge and pump efficiency versus discharge graphs.

·        Gear Pump: Features a pair of meshed gears, 1 HP capacity, maximum speed 1500 RPM, and maximum head of 5 kg/cm².

·        Drive Options:

o   AC motor with step cone pulley offering 3 preset speeds.

    • DC motor with DC drive and non-contact digital RPM indicator.

·        Supply Tank: 30-liter capacity.

·        Measuring Tank: 20-liter capacity, fitted with piezometer tube and scale.

·        Piping: Made of GI or PVC materials.

·        Timing: Electronic stopwatch included.

·        Control Panel: Equipped with all necessary electrical instrumentation.

·        Construction: Neatly designed and mounted on a high-quality painted frame.

 

Utilities Required Other Than Above Supply

Electric Supply: 230 ±10 VAC, 50 Hz, single-phase, properly earthed, neutral-to-earth voltage below 5 VAC.

Socket: 5 A, three-pin socket with switch.

Oil Supply: 30 liters (optional, extra cost).
