The setup is
designed to study the performance of a multi stage centrifugal pump. It
includes a multi-stage centrifugal pump connected to a DC motor and drive, a
supply tank, a measuring tank, and pipe fittings for closed loop water
circulation. There are two separate pumps connected to the DC motor and drive,
and they can be arranged in series or parallel to simulate different combinations.
Pressure and vacuum gauges are installed on both the delivery and suction sides
of each pump to measure performance. A swinging field dynamometer is provided
for direct torque measurement, using a dial type spring balance for each pump.
The water flow rate is measured using a measuring tank and a stopwatch.
