The apparatus consists of four spring steel columns mounted vertically on a wooden board, each demonstrating different end conditions to study the buckling behavior of columns. The four configurations include: pinned at both ends, fixed at both ends, fixed at one end with the other end pinned, and fixed at one end with the other end free. This setup allows students to observe how different support conditions affect the stability and buckling of columns. The apparatus is supplied complete with a sturdy supporting stand and a set of weights, making it suitable for practical demonstrations and experiments in structural mechanics labs.
Experimental Objective
To study behavior of different types of columns and find Euler’s buckling load for each case.
