Shear
forces occur when two parallel forces act in an uncoordinated manner. For
example, in a large boiler made of sheet metal plates riveted together, the
expansion and contraction of the plates apply equal and opposite forces to the
rivets. Bending moments, which are rotational forces within a beam, cause the beam
to bend. The bending moment at any point within the beam is determined by the
sum of all external forces, each multiplied by the distance perpendicular to
the direction of the force.
Experimental Objective
To verify the Shear, force a cross-section of
the beam.
To verify the bending moment in cross section
of beam with a flexure condition.
