A drill tool dynamometer of the armed wheel type is being used to measure the thrust and torque generated during drilling operations. For mild steel, this dynamometer can drill holes up to 25 mm in diameter. Students can use this dynamometer to investigate how these forces change by adjusting the speed, cut, and feed.
