The apparatus features a suspension system composed of three parallel rods connected to elastic beams at both their top and bottom ends. The central suspension rod is attached to the middle of another elastic beam, which is simply supported at both of its outer ends. The upper ends of the two outer suspension rods are fixed to a vertical wooden board, providing a stable structure. The entire setup is constructed using light steel materials to allow visible deflection under load. The apparatus is supplied complete with a supporting stand and a set of weights, making it suitable for conducting experiments related to suspension bridge models in structural mechanics labs.
Experimental Objective
To calculate experimentally and theoretically
the loads in the three suspension rods supporting an elastic beam with a
concentrated load hung midway between two of the suspension rods under two
conditions.
When the suspension rods are attached at
their upper ends to rigid supports.
When upper end of the central suspension rod is attached to the Centre of a similar elastic beam.
