Three suspension elements (spring balances)
of varying stiffness make up the apparatus, which is joined at one point to
provide a redundant joint. The upper end of the suspension members is secured
to a vertical wooden board by a positional tie. It is possible to apply a
vertical load to the joint and use dial gauges to measure the forces and
elongations in the suspension members as well as their horizontal and vertical
displacements on paper. The equipment includes dial gauges with magnetic bases.
EXPERIMENT:-
Comparison of experimental and theoretical
results of forces in the members and the component displacement of the loaded
joint D of a three bar suspension system for vertical loads.
