An angle measuring 1" x 1" x 1/8" (or 80cm in corresponding metric measurements) is tied as a cantilever beam in the apparatus. The beam is clamped so that the major axis of its cross-section can be inclined at any angle with the horizontal and vertical planes and is locked at one end so that rotation at intervals of 450 can be provided.
