Consists of a metal cast base fitted with three levelling screws, thoroughly aged and machined over which slides a metal carriage. Slide can be clamped at any position by means of clamping screw. A sliding carriage slides along a metal vertical pillar fitted on the horizontal carriage. The microscope with rack and pinion is fitted on this vertical carriage and can be clamped in a vertical or horizontal position. Stage for placing objects for measurement is fitted with Perspex sheet. Horizontal and vertical scales of brass steel. Achromatic lenses have been used. Horizontal scale 0 to 18/20cm, Vertical scale 0 to 16cm, 10x Eyepiece, FL 50 mm approx. Vernier reading 0.01 mm. Supplied in wooden case.


Experimental Objective:
To accurately measure small distances, diameters, thicknesses, or displacements in physics laboratory experiments.

Principle:
A travelling microscope works on the principle of precise linear measurement using a movable microscope fitted with a calibrated Vernier scale, allowing accurate measurement of the position of an observed object.
