The given Rigidity Apparatus – Dynamic Method is a reliable physics laboratory instrument used for determining the modulus of rigidity of a wire through torsional oscillations. It is designed to demonstrate the relationship between rigidity, moment of inertia, and time period in rotational motion experiments.

The apparatus features a chrome-plated steel rod of approximately 40 cm length and 2.5 cm diameter, graduated from 15–0–15 cm for accurate positioning of weights. Two sturdy sliding weights are provided on both sides of the centrally fixed pin-vice, allowing easy adjustment of the moment of inertia. The weights can be securely locked at the desired position using knurled screws.

Supplied complete with a wall bracket, this apparatus is suitable for mechanics and elasticity experiments in schools, colleges, universities, and educational physics laboratories.

 Experimental Objectives

To determine the modulus of rigidity of a given wire using the dynamic method.
To study torsional oscillations of a suspended system.
To understand the relation between moment of inertia and time period.
To verify the elastic properties of wire under torsional conditions.
