This Simple Pendulum – Type 2 is a physics laboratory apparatus designed to demonstrate that the time period of a simple pendulum is independent of the mass of the bob and, for small oscillations, independent of the amplitude of swing.
The setup consists of three pendulum bobs made of different materials such as aluminium, brass, and steel, suspended at equal lengths from a sturdy metal frame using cords. Since the bobs have different masses but the same length, students can easily compare their oscillations and observe that the time period remains nearly the same.
