Compound Bar Pendulum is a precision-engineered physics laboratory apparatus designed to demonstrate the principles of simple harmonic motion, center of gravity, and moment of inertia. The apparatus consists of a uniform rectangular brass CP bar with a durable powder-coated finish, measuring approximately 100 × 2.5 × 0.5 cm. Holes are provided at 5 cm intervals along the entire length of the bar to facilitate the insertion of removable knife edges.
The pendulum can be suspended vertically by positioning the horizontal knife edge through any selected hole. The knife edge rests securely on a sturdy wall-mounted bracket, ensuring stable and accurate oscillations during experiments. The apparatus is supplied complete with a wall bracket.
Experimental Objectives
To determine the value of accelaration due to gravity g using compound bar pendulum. To determine the radius of gyration of a compound (bar) pendulum about an axis passing through its center of gravity and perpendicular to its length.
