Friction Board Apparatus is a simple and effective physics laboratory setup used to study the laws of friction and the relation between frictional force and applied load. It helps students understand static friction, kinetic friction, limiting friction, and the effect of surface contact on motion.
The apparatus consists of a 60 cm long wooden board fitted with a glass or sunmica top to provide a smooth and uniform contact surface. A low-friction pulley is fixed at one end of the board for applying force through a weight pan. The sliding wooden block moves over the surface, allowing students to observe frictional resistance under different loading conditions.
